Orcrist

With The Hobbit coming out December of 2012, and the second and third instalments the next two following years, there has been hype around the new swords that the characters use.
In the original LOTR series, there was lots of hype over Sting, or Anduil, Frodo and Aragorns' swords. A decade later, the attention has turned to Orcrist and Glamdring, Thorin Oakenshield & Gandalfs' swords.
I personally think Orcrist is a fantastic sword, and is elegant in every way (it IS an Elvish sword after all, even if Thorin {a dwarf} is using it).

What does the elvish on the handle say, I'm curious...

The Sword of Lady Eowyn

Quite like King Theoden's sword, Lady Eowyn's sword is quite noble looking. With the same type of hilt, the curving horse heads, this sword is quite pretty. The hilt, on the other hand, is quite different from Theoden's. The intricate detail makes up for the larger, clunkier pommel.

This drawing was a lot of fun, with the different textures and many different shapes. Getting the curling horse heads on the backboard correct was hard enough, but adding the up and down wood texture made keeping the smooth, lighter lines a challenge.

Sting - Bilbo's Sword

Sting, the second sword in my collection of LOTR swords.
If you notice, this sword is actually different from the one that Frodo uses in Lord of the Rings. Bilbo's version vs Frodo's version.
There is no elvish script on the hilt, nor is there any script running down the swirl that runs down the blade. These things I didn't notice until I started drawing it. I will be doing two drawings of Sting, the other drawing Frodo's version

Herugrim - King Theoden's Sword (Hilt)

Herugrim, King Theoden's sword from the Lord of the Rings.

This is my frist drawing of my LOTR sword series. The hardest thing to draw in this type of drawing is most definitely getting things symmetrical. The second thing is the wood. Making the grain flow without drawing over the horse outline was hard. Keeping the grain of the wood straight but making it darker in places and lighter in others.

My favorite thing about Herugrim is the heart-shaped hilt. It's so different compared to most other swords. Weta did a fantastic job of making each sword unique but keeping it real.

Batman - The Dark Knight

In the mood to do silhouette drawings, inspired by my Superman drawing, this is the third or fourth drawing done in this style.
