Kevin Young - Lead Singer for Disciple

Kevin Young the lead singer of Disciple.

I actually found myself finding it easier and easier to do drawings the more I draw. Now, I know that that is kind of a "duh" moment, and that drawing does get easier and easier to do with time and practice. But I really felt it with this drawing, which was around number 13 of 16 drawings that I did in 7 days. Yeah, insane, I know. Don't follow my example. Give yourself time and don't cram drawings in for a deadline.
But, I thought that it turned out considering that it only took between 2-3 hours, not 12+ that I did for the Anthony splash drawing (that post to come).
With the energy portrayed in this picture, you'd never know that Kevin is over 40 years-old. In fact, his name is what he looks. Young.

Such a nice guy. Keep it up Kevin!!

If you'd like to purchase a print of this drawing, you can do so here.

Ok, so, I'm Drawing Solomon Olds before the FF5 concert, but I can't find a picture I really like! Where do you get your pictures? Do you use a certain website, or just use google images?
I'm looking for a picture kinda like this one you used for Kevin.
I can't wait to see disciple too! :D

I totally feel for you!! It's ALWAYS hard to find pictures that are "drawable". I did a post on my blog here

http://thelifeofleauphaun.weebly.com/9/post/2012/10/how-to-find-that-drawable-picture.html

and hopefully it'll help you with your search for awesome pictures!

Also, I found a few pictures that you might find drawable on my photography page. When you get to my weebly site, to to the photography page, and there will be a Solomon post for you. All of the picures are copyright free.

And once you've taken a look at that post, let me know, and I'll delete the post on the photography blog.

Oh man.... The concert. Was. Amazing...
Disciple was my favorite, next to FF5! My favorite songs disciple sang were Dear X, you don't own me, and Game on. I love that song...
Solomon brought the bubble he goes inside, and the raft! I was right in the front row, so I got some good pics and high fived him quite a few times. During one song, he threw his guitar and microphone stand to Xanadeu (is that how you spell it? He's kinda the sound guy) And since he was throwing a ton of heavy stuff, when he threw his guitar pic strait at me, I thought it was something heavy, so I ducked :P But I did catch his towel he wiped his face with! :P
And I got my picture signed!!! :D :D :D
It was amazing...
And one of the bands, icon for hire, blew the power from rocking too hard. :P It took about 1 hour to get the power back up, but we got to stay an extra two hours because of it. Oh, I think I might try to post my drawings on flickr, but first I need to find out how to upload documents onto flickr. I'll post a link when I do. Also, me and my family are going to life fest (where a ton of christian artists plsy for 4 days strait! Including... TFK! :D can't wait) so I need to draw all the members of FF5 before then, and Trevor Mcnevan, Disciple, and a few other of my faves.
Anyway, the concert was too cool! :)

Hahaha, concerts are SOOO amazing!!
Disciple IS amazing, eh?! I love them! I've never been to a FF5 concert, but I hear that they're really crazy! Both of those songs are in my "favorite" playlist, too ;)

WHOOP!!! Solomon is crazy, in a good way, but still crazy =D Hahaha, oh dear!! I totally would've ducked too :P Nice!! Souvenirs are awesome!

WAHOO!!!!! There is NO feeling like showing a person a picture of them that you've drawn. NO FEELING LIKE IT!!
I LOVE Icon for Hire!! Or, at least, I enjoy their music =) Haha, they would too :P
YES!! I'd LOVE to see it!! I have no idea with flickr, unfortounately...

WOW!!! I'm so glad you're going!! Here is a tip if you want to get all your drawings done before the concert. Do them now. Start drawing NOW. DO NOT CRAM FOR THE CONCERT!
I was going to go to Creation West this past July, and wanted to do a drawing of each member of the band Nine Lashes (5 members), Manafest (4), Red (8 pictures), and some for TFK. I left it all for 2 1/2 weeks before the festivel. I was doing 2 drawings A DAY. DO NOT CRAM! Find out the pictures/people you want to draw, then spread them out over the time in between, now and the concerts. It's best if you start now, and get a few done :) That way you can put more detail...

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I haven't been to a concert in over a year, but this is getting me excited to go to another one =D

Thanks for sharing!!! And I'd LOVE to see the drawing!

You are so right about Kevin young too. He is such a nice guy! And funny too :P I got to talk with him and ask him questions before the concert after he spoke at the conference. I even got my picture taken with him! :D Sadnly, my brother took the picture, so it turned out a bit blury. He's not too god with a camera :P

Lol! You did that many drawings in 2 weeks?! Wow...
Actually, I think I may wait till about 2 or 3 months before the concert (about 6 months from now) to do the drawings, because I'm getting a lot better every drawing I do!

Anyway, I finally figured out how to post the picture on flickr! Here's the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pink_stormtrooper/8161553762/
Tell me what you think!

Leauphaun said...

He is =) I look forward to seeing him again... NICE!! Haha, same with my brother... not the best with cameras ;)

Yeah, it was one of the stupidest things I did... I had so much back pain from sitting so long (waking up and drawing until sundown), and I ended up being an emotional wreck because of the pressure I put myself under. Even now, I'm planning on people I'm drawing for concerts that are happening next summer. But out of that ordeal, I got 17 drawings out of it!

That is exactaly what I did for CW, but you know what? The nice thing about drawings are th ability to go back and change stuff. If you haven't check out my Jeremy Dunn post (the first one), becuase I did the drawing back in October of 2011, and it was TERRIBLE! But I went back before the concert and changed a bunch of stuff, and volia! It looks way better now =D The ability of being able to go back and change it is one of the best things about drawings =)

Ok, dude, that is really amazing!! I admit, I was a little skeptical at what it would look like, but I am actually very surprised! (In a good way!) You are quite talented =D Bwahaha, his hair looks just like Solomon's! All over the place in a crazy mop! I'm quite impressed! Keep it up!! I'd love to see more work =D

Sorry for yet ANOTHER comment on this post (I'll delete the others if you'd like) but I'm starting to find the pictures I'll use for my drawings before I go to lifest. I'm going to draw Kevin, and I was wondering, did you get this picture from a music video? If so, could you tell me which one. I'd like to find a good 'energy filled' picture of him, maybe using the music video you got this pic from. (if it was indeed from a music video) Thanks!

Leauphaun said...

Absoutely no problem =) I like comments!

No, I didn't get this photo from a music video. I actually don't remember where I got it. Probably in Google images. Sorry!! Haha, you'll definitely find those type of photos for Kevin Young! Facebook is a great place to find photos. If you don't have an account, ask someone who does and go through Diciple's page.

You'll find one =)

No need to be sorry. I acctually found a great picture of Kevin! It's a lot like this one, screaming into the microphone, half lit. Loudly dramatic ;)

Another subject, I was looking through some red music videos and pictures, and wow. I wish all bands were as photogenic as they are! I found good pictures of them in just a few minutes!

Leauphaun said...

Nice!!! "Loudly dramatic". That is awesome =D

Hahaha, that is funny, because as much as I love the guys, (seriously, RED is beyond awesome!!), I don't find them nearly as easy to find good pictures to draw. Particulary Randy. He's a tough nut to crack =) BUT, that's my opinion. I'm so glad you found some good pictures to draw!! I know how frustrating it is to NOT find a picture of a person you want to draw.
