Randy Armstrong - Bassist for RED

Randy is the twin to Anthony, and plays the bass for the band RED. I actually was really excited to do this drawing, despite the tough facial hair this picture produced.
Out of all four band members, Randy is the hardest to find decent pictures of him. If you don't believe me, watch this video (behind the scenes of their music video; skip to 4:50) to see what I mean. He's just that type of personality, and we love him for it!
Unfortunately, that means that there are very few drawable pictures of him. This one I found in one of their videos, and managed to snap a picture of it.

If you would like to purchase a print of this drawing, you can do so here.

Wow, all that facial hair WOULD be hard to draw! lol. You did really good!!

*shakes head* I don't even wanna think what it would look like if I attempted draw that. lol.

But my mind still wonders.....how can he actually be the twin of Anthony??? They don't really look alike....do they?

Haha, it was hard to draw! It was hard, not because of the ammount (that just takes time), but hard because the hair is really short. It's not like the hairs are longer, so the muscles in my hand had to continuely lengthen and contract. LOL!

Thanks yous!

Haha, they have actually started looking less and less like twins over the past year, but when they were younger they looked identical. Very few people could tell them apart, since their looks, voices, and attitudes were the same. It was really funny to watch them when you couldn't tell the difference. Also, Randy has put on a little more weight than Anthony has (Anthony is quite thin, but just as buff), so their faces have started to looks more different.
Here's a picture that might explain what I'm trying to say :)
They're quite a few years younger here.

Thanks!! - Leauphaun

I agree, the facial hair is well done and the drawing is great overall!

Might I ask you, how do you suggest learning to draw faces? I've tried it a couple times but it always turns out a little inhuman and not like the reference drawing. More recently I've read about the grid method too...

Thank you! :D

Hmm, well other than learning under a physical teacher (not a YouTube video, website, etc..), I'd suggest YouTubing videos of people drawing faces, or google "how to draw faces", because there's no set way to learn.
I learned to draw faces with practice, and years of drawing every week. It's been almost 7 years since I took my first art lesson, so it takes time to learn. Rome wasn't built in a day ;) It takes time and practice (though that's cliched)

This page has some of my older works on it, but not my oldest.
If you're better than the fourth drawing (counting from left to right, top to bottom) than you're already doing great! If not, than you are at the starting point. To get better is to keep drawing. Actually, I'll do a post about how I draw on my other blog site. When I do post it, take a look at it, and see if it helps.
