Travis - Drummer for Manafest

My signed drawing

Travis, the drummer for Manafest.

Surprisingly, the bottom drawing only took me 2 hours to complete, while the top one took me 2 days. The hardest part is the bandanna which has lots of white detailing with dark fabric, but other than that he was an easy person to draw. I guess that's because of all the hair, which was easy despite the wild Mohawk starting at the top of his head.

It's weird. For the most of my new drawings, I just can't remember what happens as I'm drawing it. I just remember the outcome.

Such a nice guy, despite his 'tough guy' appearance. I think he came close to tears when he choose which one to take ^_^. Just like Bodan predicted...:)

Thank you so much, Travis. It was an honor meeting you, and who knows what my next piece will be for you...

Bodan (Guitarist for Manafest) Signed Drawing

Definitely not the better of the two drawings that I've done of him. But still...nah I really wish it looked more like him.
This was a challenge. Unlike the previous drawing, this one just WOULDN'T work!! No matter how many tries I did, it just didn't want to work out. I can't blame him for taking the other drawing.

Thank you so much, Bodan, for your kind words, and for signing this! It may be a painting next, eh?

Melanie Greenwood

Who is this beauty?? It's Melanie Greenwood, the wife/graphic artist of  music artist Manafest.

I had the privilege of meeting and talking with Melanie this past weekend...such a nice person!!!!
For those of you who haven't read my blog post, there was a 10-band concert this past Saturday and Melanie was manning Manafest's merch table. I recognized her from the picture I'd used to draw this, and talked with her for a few minutes. I gave Chris the drawing to surprise Melanie which it did (I think) :)

But this isn't my first time drawing her. I originally did this same drawing only something happened to it.
So I finished the drawing, (first one), late one night and left it on top of my laptop as I was too tired to put it away. The next morning I had a shower, and after I got out of the shower and was fixing my hair, ONE hair that had product on it landed on her nose and stuck there. I didn't notice the hair until hours later when I noticed a darker smudge on her nose and tried to erase it. Well, all it did was smear the product on her nose and permanently stain the paper. She has almost flawless skin so this huge black smear ruined the whole drawing!! GAH! It made me so mad!!! So had to do a second drawing of the same picture, but it ended up working because the second drawing looked more like her than the first.

Thanks Chris & Melanie!! You guys are awesome...keep rocking for God!!!

Legolas (For SOTK)

Here you go SOTK!!
The third and final piece...completed!
While I was drawing Legolas here, I found out that I've gotten better at doing hair, not to mention found it more enjoyable to do. I think that I finally pulled off blonde hair. Before my blonde hair looked more like brown (or white :/) but I've finally had enough practice to get it looking light, but not white.

Eldra said that his features were a little off, but that is how the picture is. His expression (to me) is like 'what?' with the one eyebrow raised.
Hope you like it!!

Frodo Baggins - Facing the Darkness

Frodo Baggins of the Shire

A very dramatic picture of this special Hobbit.
This is the drawing that I'm giving to Squeaks. I hope you like it!!!

Gandalf the Grey - Wise Wizard

naur an edraaith ammen
Gandalf is here

For those of you who read my post on my Thoughts blog, will know that Eldra, Goose and I met Squeaks, SOTK (Son of the King) and Torpedo last Saturday. All of us being LOTR junkies, I asked them what LOTR character they would want drawn out. Squeaks wanted Frodo (coming up next, btw), SOTK wanted Legolas and Torpedo wanted Gandalf.
I was expecting Legolas, but Frodo and Gandalf took me by surprise. I have already drawing Legolas and Frodo so I knew I wouldn't have any trouble with them, but it was Gandalf that had be a little bit worried. But I was excited to draw him. I had almost no motivation to draw him before but now I know he is an AWESOME character to draw. Minus the hair because - for me - hair is hard.

For the beard to look better, stand back around 6 ft and it will look way better.

So, Squeaks you can show this to Torpedo whenever you see him next. Let me know if it isn't what he wanted. I have an awesome picture of Frodo coming up!!

An Eye for Music

This is the theme piece that I did for the art exhibition that I was in. The theme was 'A Rhapsody of Art' which means 'music in art'.

A friend of mine was kind enough to model for me with her GORGEOUS eyes. I then put the picture through Photoshop Elements 9 and added music notes. But because I don't have a warp tool the notes didn't want to bend around the Iris. *Blah* so I ended up doing it by hand.

But the story behind this picture. I originally was going to paint it on a 11" x 14" canvas. Well that didn't work out as the colors DIDN'T want to blend together. I then moved onto a 9" x 11" canvas to which the same problem occurred. I then decided to switch to pencil and, well, you see the results.

Kevin Bieksa - Defence on Offence

Kevin Bieksa of the Vancouver Canucks.

This drawing goes along with Half of the Duo, and Excitement for Practice.
Not really that much to say about this drawing other than it was an easy drawing to complete. I did this for an art show I was in.

Ty Dietzler (Portriat)

Ty Dietzler from Thousand Foot Krutch
THIS was a fun drawing to do with the Dreadlocks and the huge headband...SO MUCH FUN!!
Surprisingly, it only took me 2 hours to complete it. I guess it's because it is mostly all darks and few light spots.
Now, for those of you who aren't good at doing hair, dark pictures are the best because you don't have to struggle with strands or middle tones, it's only highlights and darks.
This has turned into my all-time favorite drawing!!!! Unfortunately, I may not be keeping it as I am meeting the band later this month and Ty may or may not choose this drawing to keep. I hope he does, and doesn't!!
He ended up taking it, like I thought he would. It's good, I'm glad he too it!
